Reason May 2005: John Whiteside Parsons was born in 1914 and died in 1952.[...]
Strange Angel: The Otherworldly Life of Rocket Scientist John Whiteside Parsons (Harcourt), tells the bizarre tale of a character whose innovations in rocket fuel design were vital to mankind’s leaving the surface of the planet. Simultaneous with his more material scientific pursuits, he also tried with painstaking ritual—but apparently failed—to create a "Moon Child," a magic being conjured via mystic ritual who would usher in a new age.[...]
His gang was not-so-affectionately dubbed the Suicide Squad for the series of alarming explosions they caused on campus. [...]
Gradually the little gang of misfits evolved into the Jet Propulsion Laboratories. (JPL has far exceeded its humble origins. As Pendle notes, it "manufactured lunar landers and Mars landers, as well as…Voyager 1 and 2" and now employs 5,500 scientists on an annual budget of $1.4 billion.)
While inventing the castable rocket fuel that made the space age possible, Parsons simultaneously explored the frontiers of inner space, building the other half of his weird reputation. He became enraptured with the writings of the British occultist Aleister Crowley and joined the L.A.-based Agape Lodge of Crowley’s Ordo Templi Orientis. Crowley’s American lieutenants seized on the charismatic and successful scientist as a potential savior for their movement; he began donating almost all his salary to the upkeep of his lodge brethren. ...
After the war his occult activism attracted the young L. Ron Hubbard into his life and home. The scalawag pulp writer, pre-Dianetics, took off for Florida with Jack’s girl and most of his money, supposedly to buy boats to bring to California and launch a business operation they’d jointly own. Hubbard never came back. The official Scientology line —unsupported by any evidence—is that Hubbard was sent by Naval Intelligence to break up Parsons’ evil occult sex ring.
As the '40s wound down Parsons was stripped of his security clearance and almost prosecuted for treason for slipping classified documents from his then-employer, Hughes Aircraft, to the nascent Israeli government, with whom he was negotiating for a rocket guru gig That same Agape Lodge was a keystone of the occult control mechanisms hovering over young Hollywood. Today, of course, much of Hollywood is under the thrall of its descendent institutiion, Scientology.Labels: JPL, NASA .....---

Santa Rosa Press Democrat July 24, 2004:Secretary of State Colin Powell, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, the CEO of Bechtel Corp., former Grateful Dead bandmates and vintner Robert Mondavi are all scheduled to attend the Midsummer Encampment of the Bohemian Club of San Francisco.
So, too, is conservative author William F. Buckley Jr., liberal TV personality Chris Matthews and gay porn star Chad Savage.
[...]
Former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, a perennial camper, arrived Thursday by private plane at the Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport. Fifty to 100 private jets have landed at the airport daily in the past two weeks, about average for this time of year, said Walt Smith, regional coordinator for the Federal Aviation Administration.
But as of Friday, the Secret Service hadn't alerted airport officials to any special arrivals, despite the fact that Powell is on the guest list and scheduled to stay in Mandalay, the same camp as Kissinger and Riley Bechtel, the CEO of the engineering firm whose projects include the reconstruction of Iraq.
[...]
Mandalay is the traditional seat of power in Bohemian Grove. Its guest list this year includes George Schultz, a former secretary of state; David O'Reilly, chairman of ChevronTexaco; H.B. Atwater Jr., chief executive officer of General Mills; and Edgar Kaiser Jr., founder of the Kaiser Foundation.
[...]
Of particular interest are the "Lakeside Talks," which this year include:
An untitled talk by David Gergen, commentator and former adviser to both Republican and Democratic presidents.
"The Landscape of American Politics," by David Brooks, a New York Times columnist.
"College Athletics: Serious Business or Toy Department?" by Ted Leland, Stanford University's athletic director.
"Flight," by Chuck Yeager.
"The Long War of the 20th Century," by James Woolsey, a former CIA director.
"Bohemia," by author Herman Wouk.
"Exploring Mars and Searching for Life in the Universe," by Charles Elachi, director of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena.
"The Coming Virtual Soldier," by Roger McCarthy, principal and engineer of Exponent Inc. Hmm. David Gergen seems up to his old tricks...
WASHINGTON TIMES June 11, 1993:Presidential counselor David Gergen resigned yesterday from the all-male Bohemian Club, three days after saying he would not run around naked at its annual Bohemian Grove encampment and insisting he would not quit.
White House spokeswoman Dee Dee Myers annnounced the resignation along with Mr. Gergen's departure from 17 other interest groups, charities and public boards ranging from the Trilateral Commission to the Very Special Arts Foundation. - See also Snuff kiddie porn at Bohemian Grove

Knight-Ridder March 6, 2004: Ever since the robot rovers Spirit and Opportunity landed on Mars in January, NASA has been flooded with hundreds of daily calls and e-mails from people eager to share their own dramatic discoveries.
Medford, N.J., resident George Filer says he has spotted letters similar to E and G, written on Martian rocks. Filer and his associates at MUFON (Mutual UFO Network) believe these are the creations of intelligent beings. He's been trying to tell NASA, without success.
"They keep a lot from the public," said Filer, a retired Air Force pilot.

NASA scientists did more analyses of the [1976] Viking landing site and found surprises in the chemistry of the Martian soil. They decided it was an unanticipated chemical reaction that made their life-test come out positive. Labels: JPL, NASA .....---
